We always seem to communicate with our dogs with our voice. We call them and expect them to come, we tell them to sit and we shout at them when they do something that we consider inappropriate. The problem is that although dogs de learn what we mean by certain words the fact is that dogs can’t speak English and that means that audible communication is not ideal.

Dog Obedience Tips

In the wild dogs do communicate with each other, e.g. mothers communicate and teach their puppies social skills and how to basically be dogs. If we could understand the communication which dogs use between themselves and we used those methods with our pets, then that would give us a much better bond.

Dogs don’t understand words, but they do understand our energy. Most dog owners will tell you that their dog knows when they are sad or not feeling well. That is because they can sense our feelings. They will know if you are happy or angry or if you are calm and assertive. Use that knowledge by making sure that you never get angry or frustrated with your dog. If you are calm and assertive it will eventually filter down to your dog. Remember that it is much easier to communicate in someone else’s language.
